• MIAS Nomination for Honorary Lifetime Membership Status

    Honorary Lifetime Membership status in the Marine Insurance Association of Seattle is granted through a process of nomination by members, and a vote by the Board of Directors. Honorary Lifetime Membership status conveys an appreciation for the individual’s contribution to the Marine Insurance community in general and the Marine Insurance Association of Seattle in particular. Honorary Lifetime members are listed in the association directory, receive individual invitations to all MIAS functions and mailings and are honored guests at the MIAS annual banquet. Eligibility requirements are set forth in the Nomination Guidelines and the MIAS First Amended Bylaws.

  • This nomination form will be reviewed and voted upon by the MIAS Board of Directors, accepted nominees will be announced at the next Annual Banquet.

  • Nomination Guidelines


    Nominations must be received no later than November 1st.
    Nominations must include a written statement setting forth why the nominee should be considered for Honorary Lifetime Membership.


    Qualifications:
    A person is only eligible for Honorary Lifetime Membership in MIAS if s/he has provided distinguished service to the Northwest’s Marine Insurance community by meeting all the following criteria:


    1. Has retired or is retiring - permanently - from the industry in the calendar year in which the application is submitted;
    2. Has been employed by a member of the Association for at least 15 years;
    3. Must have served on the Board of Directors, performed committee work, provided instruction of continuing education classes, or have documented assistance in planning or development of education or social events; and
    4. Has demonstrated a prolonged commitment to helping other people in the marine insurance community grow and/or develop professionally.

    No person will be eligible for Honorary Lifetime Membership if that person has been
    convicted of a felony, if that person has had his or her professional license(s)
    suspended or revoked, or if that person elects not to permanently retire from the industry.
