Submissions for Dr. Andy Diehl On Being a Doctor Creative Writing Competition for Texas ACP Medical Student and Resident members are now being accepted.
The winning author will be notified no later than October 9th, 2026, and will be invited to showcase their work during the TXACP Annual Meeting November 14th - 15th, 2026 in Plano! The winner will be recognized at the Annual Awards Luncheon and will be asked to read their winning essay or poem. The author may receive reimbursement for their travel expenses to attend the TXACP meeting (only if they both attend the meeting and read their winning piece).
Membership in ACP is required for submission. All essays must be submitted as a Word document. Submissions must be original prose or poetry and limited to 1,000 words or less. Submissions should not have been previously published, although unpublished, previously presented work will be accepted. Submissions will be judged on language, expression, clarity, uniqueness, and flow of thought.
Submissions are due September 14th.
