MIAS Scholarship Terms & Conditions

1. Verification and Accuracy of Information

By submitting this application, I certify that all information provided is true, accurate, and complete to the best of my knowledge. I understand that any misrepresentation, falsification, or omission of information may result in the immediate disqualification of my application or the revocation of any scholarship awarded.

2. Rights to Modify or Cancel the Award

The Marine Insurance Association of Seattle reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to modify, suspend, or cancel the scholarship program, or alter the number or amount of awards at any time without prior notice. The committee is under no obligation to award a scholarship if no applicants meet the required criteria.

3. Media Release and Publicity Consent

By accepting this scholarship, the recipient grants the Marine Insurance Association of Seattle the absolute right and permission to use their name, likeness, photograph, biography, and university affiliation in any and all promotional materials, press releases, or publications, without further compensation or notification.

4. Funding Disbursement & Maintenance Criteria

Scholarship funds will be disbursed directly to the recipient’s accredited educational institution to cover tuition and fees. If the recipient withdraws from classes, transfers institutions, or fails to meet these academic standards, the Marine Insurance Association of Seattle reserves the right to withhold future disbursements or request a partial or full refund of the current term's award.

5. Release of Liability

Applicants agree to release, indemnify, and hold harmless the Marine Insurance Association of Seattle, its directors, employees, and agents from any and all liability, claims, or damages arising out of or in connection with the application process, the selection process, or the acceptance and use of the scholarship funds. Recipients are solely responsible for any tax liabilities resulting from the receipt of this award.

6. Privacy and Data Collection (FERPA / GDPR)

The personal information collected on this application will be used solely for the purpose of evaluating eligibility for the Marine Insurance Association of Seattle. By submitting this application, I authorize the Marine Insurance Association of Seattle to share my application materials, including academic transcripts, with the scholarship selection committee and authorized staff. We do not sell or share your data with third parties.
