As a Senior Project Manager with Building Potential (formerly Northwest Energy Efficiency Council), Melissa serves as the Training and Curriculum Manager for the Building Operator Certification (BOC) program. At Building Potential’s Smart Buildings Center, she also manages the Tool Lending Library, develops educational events and resources, and provides technical consulting for the region’s commercial buildings industry. She holds degrees in Sustainable Building Science Technology, Energy Management, and Graphic Design, as well as certificates in Residential Auditing, Commercial Lighting, Project Management, and Electronics Troubleshooting. She also enjoys outdoor recreation, music, and teaching martial arts.
Adam Sheffield
Adam Sheffield is the Territory Sales Manager for Washington State at Fluke where they specialize in Fluke’s electrical/industrial test and measurement instruments. With over 11 years of experience working with customers in the various industries Fluke serves and as a Level 1 Certified Thermographer, Adam helps the end user explore Fluke’s tooling solutions so they can work safely and efficiently while knowing they will get accurate measurements. Outside of work, Adam enjoys live music, baseball, and spending time with his three kids.
Lunch & Learn Description:
In this session, we'll demonstrate various use cases for diagnostic and monitoring tools that can aid building operations personnel in identifying opportunities for operational improvement, including:
- Acoustic imaging (e.g. for leaks in compressed air systems)
- Power/energy logging
- Infrared thermography (thermal cameras)
- Vibration analysis (e.g. motors)
Learning Objectives:
Attendees will have the opportunity to get hands-on time with the tools and will come away with the ability to:
- Explain several practical use cases for various types of diagnostic and monitoring tools available from the Smart Buildings Center Tool Lending Library
- Discuss tips for safety and success in using the tools
- Identify potential use cases at their own buildings
- Begin preparation for tool deployment
