• Young Investigator Award Application

    AARCC & ACHA

  • The Alliance for Adult Research in Congenital Cardiology (AARCC) and the Adult Congenital Heart Association (ACHA) are accepting applications for the 2026–2027 Young Investigator Award funding cycle.

    A total of $50,000 is available to support ACHD-related research. Applicants may request up to $50,000 in direct costs. The number and amount of awards will be determined based on the quality, scope, and funding needs of the applications received.

    Eligibility Criteria: The PI must be 1) an AARCC member in good standing, 2) an early career (Assistant Professor; <5 years from terminal training) or ACHD FIT at a recognized ACHD training center and 3) must have mentorship from an established investigator in the content area of the project (at least 1 mentor must also be an AARCC member in good standing). Faculty are limited to one submission as PI.

    Please include all elements below in your Letter of Intent (maximum 4,000 characters)

  • Opening Paragraph (1 paragraph): Please give a brief summary of what your project’s goal(s) are and how much funding you are requesting.

    Statement of Need (1-2 paragraphs): Please explain the issue(s) your project will be addressing. Please state the importance and impact of this project in the field of ACHD and how the ACHD community will benefit from this project.

    Project Activity (1-2 paragraphs): Please give a general overview of the anticipated activities involved in the project.  Include if the approach is novel and should be given special consideration.  Please give a brief overview on the anticipated methodology, such as: how data will be collected and stored (Redcap, CRF forms, data pulling from the EMR, etc).

    Anticipated Outcomes (1 paragraph): Please state the specific outcome(s) you plan to achieve and how the anticipated project activities/methodology will work towards obtaining these outcome(s).

    Personnel (1 paragraph): Please state the personnel that is anticipated to be part of this study at your institution and why these individuals are well equipped to carry out this project (prior research in this field, area of expertise, prior grants/funding for ACHD research).

    Budget (1 paragraph): please give the anticipated amount of funding being requested and indicate if the project will likely have additional funding from another source.
